Critters

This guide provides detailed information on managing critters, including commands for spawning, counting, and clearing critters, as well as configuring critter behavior and settings on a server.

Commands for Managing Critters

Below, you can find commands related to critters for spawning, listing and clearing them. The permissions required for the commands are also listed as well as their support for RCON.

/SpawnCritter [crittername] [amount] [Growth]
/CountCritters
/freezecritters 0 or 1
/ClearCritters

Enabling and Configuring Critters on the Server

To control the presence and behavior of critters on the server, the server’s Game.ini file must be modified. You can find your Game.ini file in the following location (please ensure the server is off before modifying the file):

INFO

WindowsServer is the folder name for Windows servers. If you are using a different operating system, the folder name will be different but the other folders will be the same.

The following configuration options are available which can be added under the [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession] header in the Game.ini file:

Config NameDescription
bServerCritters=trueEnables or disables critters spawning. Defaults to true.
bCritterBurrows=trueEnables or disables critter burrows. Defaults to true.
ServerMaxCritters=200The maximum number of critters that can spawn at once. Defaults to 200 critters allowed at once.
ServerCritterDensityMultiplier=0.75The density of critters that will spawn. Represents the ratio of critters to spawn versus how many spawn groups there are. Defaults to 0.75.

Configuring Critter Whitelists and Blacklists

To control which critters can appear on the server, the Game.ini file can be configured to use either a whitelist or a blacklist mode.

WARNING

If AllowedCritters is specified, the system will automatically use Whitelist mode and any settings in DisallowedCritters will be ignored.

TIP

Admins with sufficient permissions can still manually spawn critters that are filtered out by the whitelist or blacklist.

  1. Blacklist Mode

Blacklist mode allows you to prevent specific critters from spawning. To disallow a critter, add the following line under [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession] in Game.ini:

ini
DisallowedCritters=CritterName

Example:

In this example, both Dynamosuchus and Palaeosaniwa are disabled but all other critters are allowed to spawn.

ini
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
DisallowedCritters=Dynamosuchus
DisallowedCritters=Palaeosaniwa
  1. Whitelist Mode

Whitelist mode restricts the server to allow only specific critters. To allow a critter, add the following line under [/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession] in Game.ini:

ini
AllowedCritters=CritterName

TIP

Repeat the line for each critter you want to allow and disallow. Ensure that the critter names are spelled correctly.

Example:

In this example, only Dynamosuchus and Palaeosaniwa are allowed to spawn. All other critters are disabled.

ini
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
AllowedCritters=Dynamosuchus
AllowedCritters=Palaeosaniwa

INFO

Impact on Critter Features: Disabling a critter will also prevent its burrows from spawning and will remove it from appearing in hunt quests.

Example Game.ini Configuration

Below is an example configuration for enabling critters, setting a maximum number, and using a whitelist:

ini
[/Script/PathOfTitans.IGameSession]
bServerCritters=true
bCritterBurrows=true
ServerMaxCritters=100

AllowedCritters=Dynamosuchus
AllowedCritters=Palaeosaniwa

This configuration enables critters and their burrows, sets a limit of 100 critters on the server, and restricts spawning to only Dynamosuchus and Palaeosaniwa.
